“HUNGER” WINS BEST FEATURE AT MOONDANCE FESTIVAL

On September 7, 2007 the MOONDANCE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, “The American Cannes”, held the U.S. premiere of “HUNGER” as the featured opening film for their 2007 festival at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood, CA.

Festival Founder and Director Elizabeth English said, “I am very pleased to present the U.S. premiere of “HUNGER” at Moondance. The sensitive acting (or, rather, NOT acting, just being), the direction, editing and cinematography are outstanding and memorable.” The screening was well attended with glowing reviews from the audience at the Q & A directly afterward.

At the Sunday awards ceremony “HUNGER” won the top prize Spirit of Moondance Best Feature Award. Robert Culp, who plays the pivotal role of the studio producer, “The Chief”, also received a special Moondance “Pioneer Award” for his outstanding contributions to film and television over the past fifty years.

Director Maria Giese said of the premiere at Moondance, “We are thrilled to have our U.S. premiere at Moondance, a festival that exemplifies the very essence of independent filmmaking. The cross-section of international features, shorts, films of conscience on politics and the environment, and particularly the emphasis on films for children, makes Moondance an authentic leading showcase of world cinema.”

Joseph Culp added of the premiere at Universal CityWalk, “It’s so appropriate to premiere this film in Hollywood, at Universal CityWalk which is part of Universal Studios, the kind of gargantuan studio that struggling writers like our hero Charlie Pontus must face.”
